The engine that made 800 horsepower a reasonable expectation, on a hoodie you will actually reach for.
The 2JZ-GTE head-gasket design: six bores, the coolant passage layout, the fire ring positions. Printed clean on heavyweight brushed fleece with a relaxed cut, ribbed cuffs, and a kangaroo pocket that holds a phone and a set of keys without sagging.
Built for 6 a.m. meets, late nights under the hood, and every drive in between.
ABOUT THE 2JZ-GTE
The 2JZ-GTE is a 3.0-liter inline-six Toyota built from 1991 to 2002. Its closed-deck cast-iron block is the reason it holds 800+ horsepower on stock internals, a claim almost no other production engine can make honestly. Factory output was rated at 276 hp in Japan and 320 hp for export, a gap that had more to do with the gentlemen’s agreement between Japanese manufacturers than with anything mechanical.
The sequential twin-turbo setup runs the first turbocharger below roughly 4,000 rpm and brings the second in above it, trading a little peak for a much flatter torque curve than a comparable single would give. It went into the MkIV Supra, the Toyota Aristo, and the Soarer.
The head gasket is where the engine’s limits actually live. Under serious boost it is the first thing to lift, which is why every high-power 2JZ build eventually gets an MLS gasket and studs. We stencil the pattern because it is the part that defines how far the engine goes.
